Driving time: 3 hours (approx) 148 Kms .
Road conditions: Double-laned NH 4 till Neelamangala after which NH 48 towards Hassan is a single-laner but, thanks to its geometry and smooth road surface, is a delight to drive on. Take left at Hirisave around 130 Kms from bangaloore and from there sravanbelagola is just 18 Kms .
Hassan is another 50 Kms from Sravanbelagola thorugh C.R.Patna.You can also visit halebid and belur if you have time . Halebid is around 90 Kms from Hassan.
We saw main temple , you have to climb a little up . A huge monolith of bahubali is installed at top which measures around 18 Mts .
Some other temples are also there . Sravanbelagola is a nice one day trip from Bangalore , you will surely njoy the ride on NH48.
The Mahamastakabhisheka festival the festival , an enormous wooden scaffolding is built around the statue of Sri Gomatheswar and more than one million pilgrims gather around and upon the slopes of the sacred hill .The festival takes place only once every twelve to fourteen years during periods of exceptional astrological significance.The next festival is Due in 2006.
